Well as I suspected and eluded to … not everyone that read my last post “What? Impeachment?”  Shares the same opinions as I hold.

A couple of people went as far as to ask me in an email to remove them from my list of recipients to my blog.  They were really upset with it.

Another person, who I promised would remain anonymous, has sent me three emails and I have followed up on those three with not much information.  I asked him if I could answer his questions in my blog format so that others could read my rationale for wanting Trump as our president – as long as I did not mention his name – and he granted me that permission.

His First Email to me …

Hi Jerry,

Hate you left the AT business. It was a pleasure getting to know you. But look, I disagree with your article. Answer this question for me. What would have been your honest opinion back when President Obama was in office if there was a concern or question about his taxes and was requested or he promised to reveal them and never did. What would be your opinion of him, (if it were a democrat or Obama)? I have served my country under many different presidents and I trusted and served honorably know matter who was in charge. I am still in the military and by your tone, President Trump could do no wrong or you would completely overlook it if he did. I hate the divisiveness this brings but imagine if this was Obama just for one second and under the exact same circumstance and with the very same story or evidence, then what would be your opinion on impeachment. I seriously doubt that you would disagree with the impeachment if the shoe was on the other foot. I never thought I would respond to this or anything of such. But what I see is that the truth does not matter because if it did, and the Trump administration believe that there was no wrong doing, why the obstruction. Why not put all the cards on the table facing impeachment to validate that there was nothing done out of bounds.

Yeah, I feel you have the wits of a genius and I have always admired you just as I have admired all of the president’s I served under. But again, why the obstruction. Why not be open and honest about the facts and if there is truly no there there, I will buy you a steak dinner at your choice of wherever you would like. So, before I could agree with your article, I would like to feel like that there is no hidden truth.

Be easy on me with your response, but your article did not make me feel like you want to know the truth because there are hidden facts that have been subpoenaed, but have never been received. If all of the facts that you are ignoring was on the table, then I would completely agree with you and would also agree that the impeachment is not valid. But as it stands at the moment, I don’t feel like you could respond with a fair response! I believe that you also would like the other facts to remain in a secret vault, or other witnesses that have been directed to never ever testify.

I responded only to your mail because I don’t want to disclose my info in an open discussion.

His Second Email to me …

Hello sir,

I do agree for you to respond to me in your blog, however, I am a black man that mostly votes Republican. I vote for the person that captures what I believe is best for all of our best interest. I did not vote for President Trump because I feel that he has the agenda that our nation was founded on and that is, Blacks are not created equal. This is, in which, I believe that he has the greatest support among southern white males, and many other of my white friends, that share the same beliefs. Our nation is turning. Our nation is not of the same feather it was founded on. We are now a mixed race/feather. I since that this change makes many of my friends, such as you, very very uncomfortable. Sometimes, I also understand why you may feel uncomfortable, and trust me I do. But again, and however, my statement above about voting for the person that captures the best interest of all Americans is what I believe in most. And here is why;

• I believe that hard work and education is the key to success (not a free hand out)…
• Integrity, Religion, Freedom and Respect should be the 4 main characteristics of a great  Sovereign Nation, as in, the United States of America.
• And lastly; our national leader should understand, at a minimum, the 2 statements above and at least be “that” leader that every American can look up to, trust, and believe in, that our leader has the best interest, respect and understanding, “of all Americans”, including me and including others like me!!!

Look, many of my friends, such as you, share a furious compassion for Trump like none other I have ever seen. I can also see our misunderstanding of this very delicate situation as being the beginning of the end of our nation as we know it. My real challenge to you is, is President Trump the true answer? Would our nation be better off destroyed than to have people in our office of a different race or different gender than our current president? I said all of the above to say this; you are a highly intelligent individual whom I have grown to know and respect. I have been taught to think, grow, learn and work hard for my earnings. I cannot speak for everyone that looks like me but the fact of the matter is, I am, we are, a reality (the good and the bad and there is plenty of the bad) but we are here to stay.

His Third Email to me …

See, Mr. Nix, I have pinched a nerve I see.

The fact of the matter is, you treated me very very well and you did discus some of your family with me back then. I have and still have very much respect for you. I just don’t understand why you are so blind to what I might feel. As you stated, I have feelings and a freedom of speech as well and that is how your article made me feel. My best friend that I served with in Afghanistan for nearly 14 years together now has the very same tone as your since Trump got elected. Prior to then (Trump), I did not know whither Steve, and still my best friend, was a Democrat or a Republican. Something has awaken in Steve “as well” that I never thought existed in him and it seems very biased against my core beliefs. And those beliefs are to be fair and honest to all man kind and all of gods living beings on this earth.

 Our president just does not represent honesty to me and yes, I don’t believe he has a general respect for people that don’t look like him. The things that comes out of his mouth is very very hurtful to many many people and the answer is no, I can not be force by you or Steve, my best friend, to go along with what I feel is morally not right. But, even with our differences, Steve and I are still best friends. This will never divide our friendship, however, I totally disagree with his “now” tone about black people and other people that does not look like Trump. I guess what I am trying to say is very difficult for you to interpret. I am the most critical of my on race as any man I have ever met. For example, every single black co-military combatant I closely served with is now 100% or near !00% disable veteran and all have encouraged me to also make the same false claim(s). A friend ask me the other day what was my percentage because I just got my 100% the person told me. I responded with I have 0 % because ain’t nothing wrong with me to claim any percentage. That person told me just as many others have, it does not matter if nothing is wrong with you, claim something anyway because you spent time in a combat zone. They are giving disability away like candy, many many of them tell me. Well, I’m not like that and I also speak against any dishonesty such as that and what I witness every time our president speaks. It is simply just not right.

Once again, and you probably won’t like what I have to say or will never agree with me. In my opinion, no matter what our president does based on your article, you will stand firm with him because your loyalty to him is unshakable. But you have a right to feel and say how you please…

Sorry if I sound combative but I feel just as strong in opposition as you do standing with our president.

Don’t give up on me. I won’t give up on you. But just as I mentioned earlier about Steve, and how he feels. John, first and foremost, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your wife.  I know it must be devastating and I fear it everyday in my own life.  Fortunately, I have not lost my wife and I truly hope that she loses me before I lose her.  Perhaps that is being somewhat selfish … but I don’t know what I would do without her and I firmly believe she could get along far better without me than I could without her.

I will also answer your questions in this email and the previous one in my blog that I am working on now.  Believe me … I will not attempt to get you to change your mind about President Trump.  I learned a long time ago that it is next to impossible to get one to change his mind because to do so he would have to admit he was wrong to begin with.  In your case, I don’t necessarily think you are wrong – nor am I.  It’s just a difference of opinion.  I will tell you a little more about my best friend (now deceased) in my blog (and No, he was not a black man).

As for your pinching a nerve, not really.  I answered hastily because I was in the process of doing something else this morning and should have slowed down just a little.

Now allow me to attempt to answer his real questions:

Email #1:

Answer:  I personally don’t feel it is anyone’s business what a person attempting to run for president has done as it relates to past taxes filed.  Whether it be Obama, Romney, McCain or Trump.  To me it does not matter.  If Obama did not want to release his tax forms … so what!  It has nothing to do with how he will work as a US President in my opinion.  Had he refused to share his taxes I simply would not care.  He initially did not share his birth certificate and that did cause some concern on my part (because so many were saying he was not a natural born citizen – yes including Trump) … but eventually that was put to ease when he finally did share a birth certificate.

I will tell you what did upset me about Obama as it relates to taxes – and I cannot say he made it happen – but he did allow it to happen;  The IRS got caught targeting conservative organizations for so-called tax fraud.  Obama could have put a stop to that and he did not.

Question:  I have served my country under many different presidents and I trusted and served honorably know matter who was in charge. I am still in the military and by your tone, President Trump could do no wrong or you would completely overlook it if he did.

Answer:  First of all thank you for your service.  You are a brother in arms as far as I am concerned.  You see, I too served my country under a couple of presidents (not many like you).  Mine were Johnson and Nixon and the War was Vietnam that lasted over 10 years and took 58,000 American military lives (not counting the 2 million plus that has died as a result of Agent Orange since the war was ended).  This 58,000 number is only US Military and does not count civilians.  I believe the latest death toll of US Military in IRAQ and Afghanistan as of the end of 2018 was 6,900 – and YES even that is too many.  And God only knows how many of our brothers and sisters were injured so far in that war.

President Donald Trump – as I eluded to in my article – is not a perfect human being.   He has done more than his fair share of wrong things.  Most of all he opens his mouth when he should keep it shut.  But that being said, he is also attempting to do many things right and I feel the right outweighs the bad.  He is trying to end wars that we have no business being in … and he has completely started over-hauling the VA as compared to what it used to be.

Question:  I hate the divisiveness this brings but imagine if this was Obama just for one second and under the exact same circumstance and with the very same story or evidence, then what would be your opinion on impeachment. I seriously doubt that you would disagree with the impeachment if the shoe was on the other foot.

Answer:  On part of this I totally agree with you.  I hate the divisiveness too.  But who’s responsible for it all?  I’d say the far left-winged Liberals (not necessarily democrats) the far right-winged conservatives (not necessarily republicans) and the media overall – to include social media of which I am a part of.  The media and social media should be uniting us and all it is doing is dividing us.  In a recent Facebook post I suggested we change the name of our country from “The UNITED States of America” to “The STATES of America.”

You said, however, that given the same set of circumstances and with the very same story of evidence, what would be my opinion of impeachment if the shoe was on the other foot.  I’m proud to say it would be the same as Jonathan Turley of the George Washington University Law School who in his testimony the other day stated … “Today, my only concern is the integrity and coherence of the constitutional standard and process of impeachment. President Trump will not be our last president and what we leave in the wake of this scandal will shape our democracy for generations to come. I am concerned about lowering impeachment standards to fit a paucity of evidence and an abundance of anger.”  Remember, Turley is not a supporter of Trump and voted against him in 2016.  He went on to state … “I have previously said that abuse of power is impeachable, but it is the most difficult of potential impeachment claims,” he wrote recently. “Once again, impeachment does not require a criminal allegation, but it does require clarity. It also requires a complete and compelling record. This record is neither complete nor compelling on proof of an impeachable offense.”

So to answer your question, if the shoe was on the other foot, and all they have is the so-called evidence they have now (much of which is hearsay) I’d say not impeachable.

That was my only point with my original blog.  It is time for the democrats to get over it and get down to government business of making America Strong and Protecting Americans.  Not trying to impeach a sitting president because they cannot find someone to beat him in an election.

Answer:  In my opinion this is exactly what the Moeller Investigation and the Adam Schiff Impeachment hearings were supposed to do.  It seems both failed miserably.  Moeller could not prove “Obstruction” or at least never called it such and Adam Schiff while he supposedly had the words of a “Whistle Blower” only allowed people to testify that had second and third hand knowledge — and would not even allow the minority party (the republicans) to call any witnesses.  I don’t feel you can blame the republicans for this failure … only the democrats since they were in charge of everything.

Answer: Again I ask … what obstruction.  Perhaps Trump not allowing his staff members to testify?  Why should he if they are not going to be treated fairly.  He allowed testimony in the Moeller investigation and provided mountains of documentation and still nothing was found to prosecute him for.  The democrats only came to the conclusion of Impeachment when Moeller was unable to find anything and this is all because of some tears that were shed in Clinton Headquarters in November 2016.

Actually it all started before the 2016 Election when FBI agent Peter Strzok texted his lover, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, that they would “stop” Donald Trump winning the 2016 election, according to multiple stories about an upcoming report into the FBI’s handling of its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

“[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page wrote to Strzok, according to the Washington Post.

“No. No he’s not. We’ll stop it,” Strzok replied.

Well they did not stop it before it happened and have been trying to stop it ever since it happened.

As for HIDDEN TRUTH … I don’t think I can prove there is or is not any.  These people are all politicians and you and I both know they tend to hide the truth – regardless of the side of the isle they are on.

Answer:  It does not matter to me that you are a black man.  I would answer and feel the same if you were white, yellow or red.  I, too, normally will vote a split ticket.  For the person that I feel will do the best job.  I believe that is the way our founding fathers wanted us to vote.  You did not vote for Trump for reasons you stated.  I voted for him because he was the one of the two major candidates we had to vote for.  I totally did not believe in Hillary Clinton for president because she came (I thought) with too much baggage,  and I am not going to go into detail here or this blog would never end.

I voted for Trump because he was a business owner who had amassed billions in net worth and understood the art of negotiation which we so much need in foreign affairs.  At the time I did not feel, and still do not feel, that President Trump is against blacks.  I disagree with you that blacks are not created equal.  I believe they were … however I also believe the are not necessarily “treated” as equal in many places.  I can still remember my brother and I coming to the south to visit family prior to the abolishment of Jim Crow laws when we were really young (maybe ages 4 and 6) and getting in trouble for drinking water out of the “colored drinking fountain” at Woolworth’s.  You see it did not matter to us … water was water and we were hot and the line at the “white’s drinking fountain” was too long.

You mention many southern white males in your statement as if that is a bad thing.  I know it is not in your opinion … but you seem concerned about it.  Contrary to what the media tells you I can tell you that many white females also voted for President Trump as did many black males and females.

Answer:  I don’t disagree with you here.  Our nation is changing.  Remember Obama himself was one of those mixed race/feathers you are referring too.  Even though I did not vote for Obama I did respect the fact that he, a mixed raced individual, was able to land the job of the US Presidency against all odds.  You and I both know from both black and white sides … the mixed race tends to catch more hell than those of the same race in today’s world.  It should not be that way … but it is.  Fortunately, this is also changing.

No, I did not Vote for Obama.  In 2008 I voted for John McCain – not because he was known as a war hero – but rather because of his military experience.  I’d always prefer an individual being named Commander and Chief of our military if they have military experience … but realize that this will not always happen.

In 2012 because I was not impressed with what the Obama Administration was able to accomplish in his first term – I cast my vote for Romney.  I did this for the same reason I cast my vote for Trump.  He was coming from a business background.  After all, it was Obama who stood up in a meeting and said, “Business owners did not build their business.”  This told me he had no experience in business at all.

So, in 2008 and 2012 I was disappointed … There were a lot of things I did not like about Obama that I will not go into here … but I was never disrespectful of him.  Had the shoe been on the other foot and the republicans wanted to impeach him … I’d be against it if there was no reason for the impeachment.

I was against the impeachment of President Clinton.  Having sex in the Oval Office in my opinion was not “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors” just like telling a foreign country that wants our money that “you will do this if they do that,” aka Quid Pro Quo, in my opinion is not “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”  And just like the Clinton impeachment that could not get past a democratic senate … why waste time on a Trump impeachment that will likely not get past a republican senate.  The time could be better spent doing other things like USMCA Trade Deal that Nancy Pelosi has had on her desk all year.

Does people of another race make me feel uncomfortable?  Heck No.  As I told you in an email … I married another race.  I was initially called a “gook lover” and as my kids were growing up I referred to them as my “Little Gooks” because I wanted them to get tough and understand we had idiots as well as good people in America.

Three of my children who I still call “half-breeds” married into white families and one married a very nice black woman that my wife and I think the world of.  Does this mean that we agree with her on everything?  Not hardly.  She voted for Hillary (as did my son) but that does not make them bad or me a racist.

My youngest daughter (and son-in-law) are probably two of the most liberal people I know.  We have come to an agreement that when they are around we will not discuss politics – and I doubt very much if she read my last blog or will read this one.  But that does not mean I love her less or think less of her than my oldest son and daughter who are both very strong conservative republicans.

Don’t forget, I was brought up on the southside of Chicago in poor black neighborhoods because at the time that is the only rent my father could afford.  So, unlike what you are trying to elude to, I’m not uncomfortable around blacks and believe that they have as much right to be our president as any white man.  As a matter of fact, until he dropped out of the race, my intended vote was for Dr. Ben Carson who I feel is one of the most intelligent people in Washington D.C. today.

Question/Statement:  But again, and however, my statement above about voting for the person that captures the best interest of all Americans is what I believe in most. And here is why;

Try as we might … we are never going to have a leader that EVERY American can look up to, trust, and believe in, that our leader has the best interest, respect and understanding, “of all Americans”, including you and including others like you.”  That’s next to impossible and the actual voting shows it.  It is no secret that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote.  Donald Trump won the electoral college vote.  

For years I wanted to denounce the electoral college and abolish it.  However, now I finally understand that if we did that, then all presidents would be elected by California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois (total population $135.5 million) – and there would be no reason for the rest of the states to even cast a vote.

You did mention “free hand outs” and how you are against them.  I now know that you are basically a republican since I am sure you know that most of these come from the Democratic Party and not the Republican Party.

Answer:  I hope you understand by now that I don’t have a serious compassion for Trump.  I don’t see him as being the end of our nation now or in the future.  Is he the true answer?  I’d say based on what/who is running on the other side for 2020 … and definite AFFIRMATIVE YES.  The only person on the other side I would even consider casting a vote for now … and she will not be one on the final ticket … is Tulsi Gabbard.  She is ex-military and more of a central democrat than many of the rest.  She’s young and has more energy than some of the older white males.   And unlike many of the other females … she does not necessarily want to give away the farm to get the votes.  Amy Klobuchar may be another potential I’d consider – but she will not make it either.  If it is between any of the rest of them and Trump … right now my vote would be for Trump, even though as a human being I don’t really like him … but as a leader I totally respect him and trust him with the running of our country.

And, yes, I do understand people like you are a reality … but that is not going to make me vote for a Corey Booker or Kamala Harris (even though she just dropped out).  However, I would consider a vote for – as said before – Dr. Ben Carson or even if she ever ran Candace Owens.

Answer:  As I stated in my email back to you I answered this email in a hurry and perhaps could have answered it better – I am sorry for that.

I am not blind to what you feel.  As a matter of fact my email that announced this blog stated, “I am exercising my first amendment right to say what I believe.  Some of you will like this article and some probably will not.  That is okay.  You have first amendment rights as well.”  I am proud of the fact that you even responded with question rather, like some, simply asked to be removed from my email list.

As for  your best friend, Steve, I cannot answer since I do not know him.  I can say that the Trump election seemed to have awakened many in America as to the sludge we have in the Swamp of Washington D.C.

As for my best friend in my adult years (who incidentally is no longer alive) he and I would have a total disconnect here.  We were close back in the 80’s and even then he could not stand Trump.  My friend, who I am in the process of writing a story about, was a Muslim from Iran.  The closest friend I ever had.  Even though we would have had a disconnect … we would have remained friends because he believed like I do … Opinions and Beliefs should not destroy friendships when they differ.  The friendship … if it is true friendship … is tighter bond than any disagreement.  The same can be said for a marriage and I believe that is what you are trying to state in your email … so don’t give up on your friend even if he has a differing opinion.

This will never divide our friendship, however, I totally disagree with his “now” tone about black people and other people that does not look like Trump.

Answer:  I understand this is your opinion and you have every right to it just as I have every right to mine.  I don’t think Trump disrespects people that don’t look like him; after all he did provide a good position to Omarosa Manigault Newman as his aide when first elected and she had no experience.  Yes, he later called her a “dog,” but he would have said that, I believe, if she were a white male.  He really seems to be color blind when it comes to derogatory statements.  Like you … that is one part of him that I despise … but it does not effect how much he has helped the country since he has taken over as president.  The fact is … Black Unemployment is now at all time lows in America.  While I don’t believe Trump can be credited 100% for this (it started to decline under Obama) it is he that is keeping it headed down my helping to increase jobs in America.  See the table and chart below from the Bureau of Labor Statistics …

Question/Statement:  I guess what I am trying to say is very difficult for you to interpret. I am the most critical of my on race as any man I have ever met. For example, every single black co-military combatant I closely served with is now 100% or near !00% disable veteran and all have encouraged me to also make the same false claim(s). A friend ask me the other day what was my percentage because I just got my 100% the person told me. I responded with I have 0 % because ain’t nothing wrong with me to claim any percentage. That person told me just as many others have, it does not matter if nothing is wrong with you, claim something anyway because you spent time in a combat zone. They are giving disability away like candy, many many of them tell me. Well, I’m not like that and I also speak against any dishonesty such as that and what I witness every time our president speaks. It is simply just not right.

Answer:  “John” again you and I are in agreement here.  I have not used the VA for anything since I left the Army in January 1972, until recently when I developed a hearing problem.  However, I know of many black and white men who take advantage of this “free candy” as you eluded to for added income.  If nothing is wrong with you, you should not file a claim and SHAME on those who do.  I totally agree … dishonesty is not right.  And there has been a lot of dishonesty on the part of the liberal left when it comes to the impeachment of this U.S. President.  You know I was once fired from management with my company for this statement to a woman who asked if I liked her dress.

“Yes,” I said, “A woman of your size looks far better in sold colors than in printed colors.”  She complained sexual harassment because what she heard from me was that she was Fat.  She was!  But I did not tell her she was.  So, you see … even trying to be honest tactfully can get a person in trouble.  President Trump is not a tactful person.  But the fact that he does speak his mind leads me to believe he is more honest than many in Washington D. C.  You at least know how he feels about something.  And yes, like all of us, he does change his mind and his story from time to time.

Question/Statement:  Once again, and you probably won’t like what I have to say or will never agree with me. In my opinion, no matter what our president does based on your article, you will stand firm with him because your loyalty to him is unshakable. But you have a right to feel and say how you please…

Sorry if I sound combative but I feel just as strong in opposition as you do standing with our president.

Don’t give up on me. I won’t give up on you. But just as I mentioned earlier about Steve, and how he feels. Something has awakened in our nation by Trump and Steve will never stop supporting Trump, and unless Trump has a change that I feel will acknowledge and recognize my moral beliefs and integrity, I will always be in opposition as well; thus the scary divide we face going forward.

Answer:  You are right … I will stand loyal to the President just like I did with Obama.  If ever someone runs that I feel could do a better job I would vote for him or her … but if I did and President Trump won again … I’d still be loyal and stand by him.

You don’t sound combative … you sound like a person who knew me in my professional life where I would only talk politics with those I knew believed as I did and remained cordial with the rest.  I am no longer in a professional life working for a company that frowns on the discussion of politics during client interactions.  In other words, you sound like a person that is simply looking for some answers to your questions and that is what I have tried to provide here.

You fear a scary divide we face in this nation as we go forward, as do I.  But what I fear most, “John” is that we are headed for a nation of socialism and that is not only going to hurt you and me … it’s going to destroy our military, our freedom, our economy, and many other things we take for granted.

You are a few years younger than me so let me tell you the divide you fear is not new.  We had the same thing back in the late 60’s and early 70’s between black and white.  If you have read any of my Vietnam Experience blogs you know that in the midst of the Vietnam war … we also had race riots on Vietnam base camps of all places.  This is back in the days when blacks wore black arm bands and crosses and gave the “black power” sign to everyone.  I did not agree with separation of races then and don’t agree with it now.  There are good and bad in all races.  It has always been that way and at least during our lifetimes it will always be that way … but that is no reason not to try to make things better.

You will read about Trump being a racist by writers on the left and about him not being a racist by writers on the right.  I don’t know if he is or not.  While it does matter to you the only question(s) I have is are we better off economically since Trump took office or not?  Are we better off in foreign affairs since Trump took office or not?  Has incomes risen and unemployment dropped since Trump took office or not?  Have we reduced the number of our military overseas since Trump took office or not?  Have we increased our military and our defense systems since Trump took office or not?

Yes, I stand behind Trump now and hopefully for another five years.  If, however, he is removed from office or not re elected – as an American I will have no alternative but to be just as loyal to whomever comes in … or leave the country.  Rest assured, if it is socialist – I may (not guaranteed) choose the latter of the two.

“John” I hope that I have answered some of your questions – and it is okay if you still choose to disagree with me.  That is your right as an American.
