Open Letter to Mark Zuckerberg – Founder and CEO of Facebook

I’ve been put in Facebook Jail and I am mad about it.

Dear Mr. Zuckerberg,

I have reasonable grounds to believe that you will never read this letter – though I hope that you do. I have a few things to say about your service … Facebook the social media site you started years ago.

First of all, most things that you have 3rd Parties Fact-Check is all wrong. If it is a liberal post it is rarely, if ever, fact-checked. And, if it is a conservative post it is almost always fact-checked and people are being told that it is not true. I just heard from one of my friends on Facebook and this is what he has to say (after I sent a message to everyone that I had been shut down on Facebook for 24 hours):

While I do not have any idea what he was referring too, I’d say it was probably a video of some politician claiming that she was going to take our guns away (do away with the second amendment) once she is elected to whatever office she is running for (probably VP for Joe Biden). In any event, the First Amendment should give this man the right to post whatever he feels like posting as long as it is not threatening or hate speech from him.

Today I saw the following post on Facebook:

Because the article made this statement:

70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA !!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says ‘Made in China ‘ or ‘PRC’ (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

I made the following comment to my friend that posted this …

“Great idea but most Americans are just too damn lazy to check labels before buying anything and the Chinese know it.”

Here’s is what I actually got from the Morons that work for you:

Tell me Mr. Zuckerberg … where is the “Hate Speech” here. Is it the phrase “the Chinese know it?” Or is it the phrase “most Americans are just too damn lazy …?” I have to believe that your moronic fact-checkers or comment checkers would have to say it is the latter of the two … most Americans are just too damned lazy.

There is nothing hateful about it. I am a 70 year old American that has done a lot more living than you and most of the people that work at Facebook. I have been willing to give my life on the battlefield for Americans to have the right to say what they want to say (First Amendment to the US Constitution) while you and the people like you continuously try to take away that right.

I am one of the American’s I was referring to as being lazy. I rarely check labels to see where a product comes from — especially if I want to purchase the product real bad — but that does not make checking the labels a bad idea. My comment “most Americans are just too damn lazy” does not state all Americans – just most and it is TRUE regardless of what you or some computer program may think.

When I read you site further this is what I find …

I do not think my comment made any group of people inferior to another group of people since I was only talking about one group of people in the comment … Lazy Americans. If you don’t think Americans can be lazy … then you have lived a privileged life and not seen the real America.

You go on to state this … though I am not really buying it…

I am not buying items 2 and 3. You say that but can you prove that? I could show you some posts that I’ve seen that are really “Hate Speech” that you have kept on the site for a long time.

Or, what about this new one that just hit … would you consider this to be Hate Speech?

I’m sure the democrats would consider it to be hate speech against their party. What’s it doing on Facebook for heaven’s sake?

Oh, that’s right … according to your site … this is the only hate speech out there:

So, I’m seeking to understand Mr. Zuckerberg … this comment … “Great idea but most Americans are just too damn lazy to check labels before buying anything and the Chinese know it.” does not mention Race, ethnicity, national origin or caste in a hateful way. It does not mention Religious Affiliation, Sexual Orientation, Sex, Gender or Gender Identity in a hateful or non hateful way. It certainly does not mention Covid-19. So, why in the hell am I being shut down for simply stating that most Americans are too lazy to check labels?

You want to know what people are saying about Facebook (and I did not write this it came directly from Facebook):

The person who wrote this is wrong, of course, there is now some competition and I am going to do everything in my power to make it known. There is a social media site known as Parler (pronounced Par-Lay) that does not block you for anything you may say. It is free and you can sign up for it right here: https://parler.com/auth/access. It does not yet have the number of subscribers found on Facebook … but if Facebook continues to make their current subscribers angry for something as simple as stating most Americans are Lazy I can see a day when Parler (or some other company) could be bigger than Facebook.

Mr. Zuckerberg, I may not have the college degrees that you and your employees have hanging on their walls and in their cubicles but you and your employees should not confuse a formal education with intelligence.

If you don’t stop the nonsense of keeping a thumb on what is said on Facebook by some people but not all people … your company is headed for trouble. You need to learn a little something about customer service. Your subscribers are your customers … not your advertisers. Without subscribers you would have no advertisers and therefore no revenue and no Billions of Dollars in your pocket.

You know 10 years ago there were 3,500 Sears and K-Mart stores in America. Today there is only 95. This should tell you something sir. Businesses don’t last forever. Customers will vote with their feet and walk away when they get angry enough. Yes, even Lazy Americans will do that if a better opportunity comes on board down the street.

As usual jerry, you put forth some well thought out ideas. I’m not against screening out hate speech, profanity, bullying tactics, etc, as a matter of fact, I’m all for it….but like you pointed out, their “fact checkers” leave terrible things on Facebook as OK as long as it’s not conservative right leaning. Hope you get the courtesy of a response from him.
